Hey Dutchman, how did you guys fair with this last blast of snow? Here in Richmond we missed the big snow only received about 4" but boy did we get some ice! Fortunately the trees and power lines did not ice up too bad but we have a good 1.5" of ice on the ground. At -11 I guess we will have it for a while.
Well, put it like this ... the company I work for as NEVER closed for any reason... ever! Today they did! (Fishers, NE side of Indy).
80% of the State in a Snow Emergency, Emergency vehicles only on the road. I blew out our drive way 3 times yesterday (Sunday), and neighbor down the road plowed it out with his truck. Woke up this morning (Monday) and we snowed in. Can't open any of our doors for the drifting, but the attached garage door opens inward, so am able to get out that door, but we have 5 foot (or more) drifts all around the house, and the wind chill is 35-40 below! with real temps -10 to -15, depending upon the time. As the sun is coming up, it's warmer now (about 1:00 pm on Monday) ... It's a balmy -5 real temperature with current -30 wind chill (according to my La Cross Technologies) weather station here at home.
I can't tell where the front porch ends and the yard begins, because it's just a level flow of snow.
The sun is shining very bright right now, but extremely windy!
Looking across the corn field behind our house, it's amazing, because it looks like an ocean scene. The snow drifts look like white camps at the ocean. It looks like an ocean, except everything is white.
We're still in a "do not drive on the road status" or you'll get a misdemeanor charge if you're caught on the roads! I think that sums it up pretty good.
It's amazing the difference 60 miles made with this storm. We have the cold, just not the snow.
