Also what happened to me is a wire corroded on the rear tandem axle. Only the front were being activated. After I adjusted the brakes I fixed the wire and jacked up each side of the trailer and had the spouse activate the brakes to insure they were working.
I noticed lower braking coming home one day. at the first stop I did a temp test of the trailer wheels. Only the front axles were extremely hot and the rears cool. Hence I knew I had an issue.
There is an area beneath the trailer where the wires are nutted together.. This was the problem area. Proactive I redid all connections and heat shrunk them.
