So in response to a previous poster, I did check out the instructions for the Prodigy. It says that failure to lock up the trailer brakes generally indicates the need to have the trailer brakes checked.
I probably need to do that.
My logic is this: If you can't lock up the trailer brakes when manually applying the brake at 25mph, I would think that would not be a function of the trailer being heavier than the truck. In this instance the trailer is slowing down the truck and not the other way around. A trailer heavier than the truck should be able to slow the truck down I would think when the trailer brakes are applied in full and not the truck brakes.
I bought a new P3 brake controller. I think I will try that and see if that solves the problem, and if not then I need to look at getting my trailer brakes checked.
