OK,Again! Nothing wrong with the Excursion towing that length trailer. The problem is from too little tongue weight as is evident by all the stuff on the rear. When he passed the semi he had all the ingredients to a disaster!
I'm towing a 35ft TT weighing 9300lbs loaded for a trip. My V-10 X is rated at 11,200lbs tow capacity with its 4.30 gears. It has a 20k lb GCWR.
Properly setup it's just as stable as any other trailer out there. I did a 4k mile trip to Yellowstone and the Rockies. Never once did I have an oh "crud" moment. And there were plenrty of times I had the cruise set at 75 passing plenty of larger vehicles.
Unless you know the equipment and vehicles you have no knowledge on how they tow.
And no, the X wasn't lifted, it was stock, possibly even 2WD.
And as far as the video. As bad as the accident is, I'm more upset at how many people just drive right on by!
