trailer for land rover

I am going to be towing my land rover. It cannot be towed 4 down so I am going to need a tow dolly. I think I need a trailer, not just a dolly.
Any recommendations for the easiest to load and set up.

Been gone from the forum for quite a while, going full time again yea
hot dog.

Mod Edit: Changed Thread title
  • check your weights and weight ratings. the amount of weight you can safely tow will be the lesser of the following:

    - the gross combination weight rating of the MH minus the actual weight of the MH as it is loaded and configured for travel

    - the weight rating of your hitch

    - the weight rating of your tow bar
  • I'm not 100% sure, but I think a Land Rover can not be towed on a dolly.
Many 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles can not be towed on a dolly, including Jeep Wranglers.
Of course, if you want to get under it and disconnect or remove the rear drive shaft after you load it on the dolly, then you definitely can tow it.
  • I know that I need a trailer, not a dolly...my mistake.
need recommendations on a trailer to haul the land rover. I know land rovers cannot be towed four down. that is why I asked for recommendations for a good trailer...
    thanks.
my rig will handle a trailer and the car.
    thanks.
  • paulm, I changed the thread title, hopefully that helps.

Which LR do you have, weight?

I'd say check out the Aluma line of trailers, not cheap but will help cut down on the weight. Really the place to start are your local trailer dealers, seeing what they have in stock that meets your weight requirements then you can begin to pick the features you want.
  • Be sure to watch your weight and the ratings for the RV you are looking at. Quick look says the LR4 weights in around 5600#, and aluminum trailer is a must to save weight.
