How safe is it travel when the wind is blowing steady 15 to 25 mph. Plan to be on I-10 in west Texas going trough El Paso and then north on I-25. Have no experience towing under these conditions.

Depends entirely on several things that are unknown at this time. How well your truck/trailer combination handles winds and how well you drive the rig. In many places in the midwest those are about average winds during spring months, about 50% of the time these days so RVing would be impossible if they couldn't handle them safely. Make sure a travel trailer is hitched with proper GOOD anti sway and WD system and that the tow vehicle is rated for the weight it's towing and in good condition. Pretty much the same thing for a 5th wheel only without the anti sway equipment. Being SAFE does not always make it COMFORTABLE for towing unfortunately. I would suggest you make the decision at the time you're traveling and if you don't FEEL safe, pull in and wait it out.Good luck / Skip

Pulling a 5th wheel in those winds is usually very little, if any problems at all. Travel trailers may have some sway to them depending on direction of the wind and your speed. But generally, 15-20 mph winds you will be just fine.

5th wheels, by design, are very stable in the wind, much more stable than any other type of trailer. My first windy pull was in Idaho in constant 35-40 mph crosswinds and my 5er handled it very well and that was with my SRW 2500 pulling it. At first I had concerns but then realized that the wind wasn't really all that bad; just something you gotta get used to. 15-20 mph wind will be easy.

Have a 5th wheel and have never had any sway from the wind or when passed by 18 wheelers.

I will drive in Atlanta traffic, Chicago traffic, etc, but high winds is something I will not do. Windy days gust will travel creek beds, between hills, down valleys, over high bridges. These are just too tiring to fool with. I hae seen motor homes completely change lanes due to sudden wind shear. I set it out on anything above 25 mph unless it is a very short pull.
