ipeltier..I am thinking that there is no way around this for 'normal' people. If you have scads of of money, yes, I am sure you could buy some coverage with no "per-existing" wording, but in the real world? I doan tink so, Lucy. And I will caution you...insurance companies will use any reason/excuse to get out of a pay-out, so, when people 'forget' to mention that health issue? The company will use that to avoid ANY coverage pay-out even tho the claim might have absolutely 100% nothing to do with the per-existing health issue.
I think you are doomed to enjoy your Albertan winter. Although....you could wander over to the Okanagan Valley and hang out. But even then, you need to be sure your Alberta coverage extends to other parts of Canada.
