- Captain_HappyExplorerI lost my wife in 2013 to pancreatic cancer. We where together for 46 years. After the funeral and the lawyers I just went on with living. After a year went by I started thinking about what to do with the remainder of my life. I always wanted to do some traveling out in the western states. So I got rid of the house and the stuff we had gathered over the years. We already had the RV so I loaded it up and toke off for the get unknown by myself. Well all most, I came on out to Nevada where my brother and his wife had move to. Still at it 5 years later. I joined the Escapee RV Club and got on the park list at the local CO-OP Park. 6 months later I've got my lot where stay in the winter months. Made a few friends here. But I kind of like time to myself. And that my story.
- Cloud_DancerExplorer III'm interested in learning how you do it. It makes me feel lonely just to think about it. We use our motorhome because the both of us enjoy doing it together. I'm following this thread, and at some point I'll start doing other research. THANKS
- steveh27ExplorerI never married and travel alone.
- Optimistic_ParaExplorerIn addition to the Escapees BOF, there is also Loners on Wheels.
https://lonersonwheels.com/index.html - Second_ChanceExplorer IIThere's a "BOF" group (Birds of a Feather) in the Escapees RV club just for singles. They seem to have a lot of fun together and meet up different places. You might check out the Escapees and find out about the BOF. I'm very sorry sorry for your loss. Being a widower, I can tell you that a new normal will eventually materialize.
Rob - doxiemom11Explorer IINot alone, but saw a tip once that I thought was smart. When you set up, put 2 chairs up under the awning, not just one. If you put up just one, everyone will know it's a single person in that camper.
- Bill1374ExplorerThe good - you're still out traveling, seeing the sights and meeting people. ( I snowbird and enjoy my friends in Florida.) You adapt to a different lifestyle traveling alone. Your children keep checking on you even after several years.
The bad - your alone, even with a bunch of friends, and you still miss your other.
But I have no intention of stopping
