For MN, here are some number from the Startribune newspaper today.
In the recent past MN had over 100 tornados in one year but in the past 2 years there have been about 35 each year. But we have also gone over 365 days without a tornado. No one can predict when or where a tornado will hit, except within a few minutes or so. They can be predicted based on the cloud conditions. You know that question mark look. Not going someplace based on tornados will leave you living in your basement forever. Precaution as posted above is the answer.
