Trickle Power

I was reading the Tech section on FoxNews and saw a nice little power supply...it says it never needs charging and is only $150...Do you guys think this would work to hook in line with the power system while the fridge is running?

Here is the link...Power Supply

I know it is 5 volts, but figured you could tuck a few of these back and put a regulator on them and have enough power to boondock for quite sometime....

Or run it into the fridge circuit (I think the fridge only needs 5VDC at the circuit board) for unlimited power, only need propane then.

Just some thoughts and not as finicky as a solar panel.

I think more so.. How long is it going to make rated output, and what's the cost of a replacement cell?

That is $150 for 2 amps of 5 volts. I'll pass.
  • $150 will get you 8 amps at 14 volts with solar. And no hydrogen replacement cartridge to buy.
  • A low cost solar setup may be a more effective.

    Interesting item tho.
    Thanx for linking the info.

  • I went to link and saw this
"This item is controlled on the U.S. Commerce Control List set forth in the Export Administration Regulations or the U.S. Munitions List set forth in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, and may require a license or other authorization from the U.S. Government to be exported from the United States. What does this have to do with this thing?

I agree with above poster. Not enough power and not even in stock till Nov (pre order only)
I have ordered from BH Photo before and had no problems. A brand new "maxima" camera many moons ago.
