truck stops

It is such a pain to go into a big truck stop and have to go in and give them my credit card. Why can't you use the credit card machine out at the pump?

    See how EAZY that is???

This is exactly what we do. Usually there is a Wendy’s, Subway , or such. I’ll pick up lunch and we are on our way in no time. No big deal.

Normally on my LONG DISTANCE hikes I use Flying-J's (or cracker barrel) as an overnight. Most J's have special RV islands usually in the 'AUto" section (Front of the store) and Truck pumps in the back.

There will be TWO RV lanes. Total 4 pumps (one two sided and two one sided) or one two sided pump with two "Slave" hoses.

THis way you pull in between two pumps and can fill from either side

These will take your credit card. and dispense both Gas and Diesel
The only thing I DO NOT like about them is it is often a bit 'tight" for my taste getting out. Have yet to have a problem but.. Not always comfortable.

IN addition at least one of the AUTO isles will have Dieses and take your credit card.

The Semi islands (Back of the store) only take Fleet cards.

Oh. and Loves. TA and Pilot (Even though J and Pilot are the same companies Pilot does not have RV lanes or parking as a rule) Usually at least one automotive island will have Diesel.. I use the auto islands for my gasser.

OH and to date I've seen Three J's without RV islands though one the auto section was tore up for revision.
  • I consider is a hassle to prepay and then go back to get the recipe. And then the fuel is more expensive than the regular gas station.I don't fuel there.
  • My wife and I have travelled over 20,000 miles in the last 4 years while either driving an RV or towing a TT. I have never had an incident where my credit card did not work at the pump, except at a gas station in the middle of Montana that had very, very old non-digital pumps and I had to pay inside. We charge ALL of our fuel on my credit card while travelling. Never had a problem at a modern station.
  • I don't understand your issue. Why doesn't your credit card work at the pump? Mine does and so do most people I've talked to.
Are you trying to use a prepaid visa card?

  • Flying J has a debit card for rvers. With the goodsam and the debit card you receive 14 cents off per gallon at the truck lanes.
