I need help! I am thinking about the workamping life style. ( in about 5 years ) I am searching for rv parks and rates to get ideas and costs. I am having no problems finding the bigger rv parks that have way to much stuff for what I my needs are. I just need basic hookups and laundry. I don't need the big fancy clubhouse, swimming pool, etc. I would be sitting for a 2 month spell, then free to travel anywhere for a month and then have to find another place for a 2 month spell.The 2 month portion would most likely be near or in larger cities...the month off I can go anywhere. Does anyone have an idea of what links I might be looking for? Also, what about these memberships and stuff?I have done some traveling over the years past on motorcycle and out of desperation on a long haul I would find a quaint little park that just had the basics. This was many years ago and all I did was tent camping. I can remember these places but not the actual names of them. I didn't know that many years later I would need to refer to them. I didn't care what they had either...I just remember now that these type of parks existed and would like to research them now.Any help would be appreciated! :)

I've done workamping and had good and bad experiences. That is the way you learn. As to finding links that advertise workamping situations, find Facebook groups and visit Google. There are a lot of FREE good sites. It is not necessary to pay to belong to any site and/or group that advertises workamping. My best advice to you now is for you to do the research at the places I've mentioned. You'll learn best and remember best when you do the legwork. Good Luck!

First of all, Merry Christmas, and welcome to the forum! RV Parking.com offers a wide variety of camping sites. Plenty of filters allow you to include/exclude features of the parks you are seeking. I use the iPhone app. Pretty straightforward and helpful.

Search the web. There are tons of places and some dont even have websites but will have a phone number listed. We stayed a few nights in a reglur ole place in Fredricksburg Texas for $25.00 a night or $245.00 a month plus electric. Nothing fancy, many live ins, quiet, safe. Also go to google maps and do street views or zoom in to see what the place looks like. They are often older images but usually still give pretty good idea of what the place is like.One exampleMore

Dianne, hi! Was this in California or Oregon by any chance? Just wondering if the state beach RV parks also have a stipend, as far as you know?

Our first wc job was at at state beach close to where we were visiting family. We just rode our bikes over and asked.....We hired on the spot! That led to nine years of wcing and volunteering.

You could do campground searches thru the passport america or good sam websites. Many of those campgrounds are smaller with fewer amenities. You could also look at www.rvparkreviews.com and there is info on the parks that have been reviewed as to size, cost and amenities.

Check out www.recreation.gov for campgrounds in which areas you're interested. You may have to move sites every couple of weeks unless you are workkamping but they have mostly COE (Corp of Engineer) parks. Also search for "campgrounds" in different towns/areas. When you find CGs you like contact the owners/mgrs about workkamping. A lot of state parks have info on their websites about volunteering, too.
