He possibly had sleep apnea and that is one of the biggest causes of accidents in the country. Many folks have it and don't know it. Many folks have been diagnosed with it and still do nothing as it means they'll have to use a CPAP every night. Many of us have it and wear a CPAP every night as I have for over 14 years. I drive a school bus and the doctor checks mythe memory card every year when I go in for my DOT physical.
Same here, recently changed our physicals to every 10 months and examiner must be state certified.
I believe that the certification is a federal requirement. It also means that it's going to be more difficult to both get an appointment and to pass the physical. I'm glad to see that this is happening and it's going to be like getting a flight physical. I'd bet that there may just be a lot of drivers losing their licenses because of the stiffer regs and the fact that they will have different doctors.
