TT roll-over on I-70... 1 killed, 4 injured

Hope everyone is OK.
Be safe out there and enjoy the holiday weekend!

EB I-70 near Copper Mountain this morning:

on edit: I was hoping that passengers would be fine, but tragically that is not the case. The photo posted was taken by a co-worker when passing the scene shortly after the indecent. In my office we all heard the sirens from the fire station a block away.

Very sad... I have been in a funk the rest of the day since reading about the death and injuries, but I am not sure why. I do not know these people. Perhaps it is because it is a fellow RV'er... forever their camping outings have been altered. Perhaps I feel this way because even though it was an accident, it appears that it could have been prevented.

Please be safe out there folks... my thoughts of these folks are sort of a small silent prayer for their loss.

East bound means he was coming down from Vail pass - probably going too fast for the curve near the bottom!! Used to live up there and travelled that Pass - both directions at least once a week!..

Being familiar with the area, then you know where Officer's Gulch is. That is where this occurred. Definitely going too fast as that portion of I-70 is deceiving with respect to how fast one "feels" they are going.

keep your speed down on those passes folks!
  • Need to make this a sticky for the folks who ask "Is it OK to ride in the trailer?"
