Everyone wants good road but hardly anyone is willing to put up with new construction zones. :R Can't have one without the other.
Some of the frustration was the O.P.'s own doing. Going back out at night in an unfamiliar area and relying on the same Tom-Tom GPS that was unreliable earlier in the day through the tuff construction zones. :S
Be thankful you eventually got where you wanted to be and arrived safe and sound. :)
