We rely on both a Garmin GPS and a SmartPhone with both Google Maps and Waze. Waze is nice because it tells you the speed of other folks that are also using Waze, so if there is traffic ahead, you can see how fast it is moving.
Both Google Maps and Waze are updated with Construction and Accidents, so they will automatically route around traffic. Waze also indicates where Police vehicles are and it will show you the price of gas at the gas stations along your route.
