We did the stop and ask for directions thing one time in St Paul after flying into Minneapolis/St Paul airport. The lady I was with had brought her own GPS along and somehow it hadn't figured out that we were now in Minnesota and kept trying to give us directions from Oregon!! We had to stop in a questionable area of St Paul to ask how to get headed back in the correct direction. Nice people, but a scary looking location. We bought a paper map and figured everything out from that.
