Not if you know how to use it properly. Or yes, if you know how to use it properly. It's just like the old computers, or new ones AFATG, GIGO.
I don't have a GPS. If I need to plan out a trip my home computer takes me down the most traveled roads making congestion worse.
Back in the day BGPS. I used to go to to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St.Paul a couple of times a year. After I learned my way around by using maps I found back roads that would get me to my destination just as fast as using the main roads. My speed was slower but, because traffic was less I ended up there in the same amount of time.
I know that if a person is driving in new areas that this is hard to do. But, I still think having a map on hand, to check out where you are going before hand, may be helpful at times.
