tv options

I'd give Dish and Directv to see what packages they offer. They have many options now. We received a flier from Dish a while back that they offered Internet through Hughesnet but I can't say if that is true now or for mobile. Directv used to offer Wild Blue for Internet as an add-on but don't anymore.

If you are fulltime you can go with the "mobile" type service that gives you east and west coast feeds on Directv. We had to sign a form (over 10 years ago) that says you travel. However we now have that service in our house and MH and they didn't care how much we traveled.

Most people these days use their smart phone for the Internet connection and satellite for TV.

There are many area out "west"/plains and rocky mountain region where over the air TV is not available. Our nearest OTA station is 120 miles away!

I have never heard of any limit. We use the Tailgater most everywhere we travel.

How often will Dish allow you to change your location?

We use a low cost (under $250 for the basic system) Dish setup for TV, and a Millenicom 20GB/mo on Verizon plan for internet. Our Dish system uses a tripod mounted portable dish that can be equipped to use either the Dish eastern arc satellites or the western arc satellites, giving us wider aiming options when setting up. From start to finish, I can usually have the system up and running in about 15 minutes.

I use Directv at home and when I travel.I don't have aby problem to see TV even in the mountains I like it.

OTA TV is a pain since everything went digital. Not worth the time and effort. And who knows what direction to point the batwing?

We use dish. Flip the switch on the dome, 5 minute later we have 250 channels. Never watch local, but if we need it it's only a phone call away. Tree's can be a problem, a portable dish, maybe a tailgator, is on the list.

Ya'll must be lucky or we just travel to underpopulated areas We've spent half of the last 3 years without OTA TV. We broke down and went with a TailGater and RVTVanywhere, which is not true as we know of many areas where we will still not have reception but we can shut it down in those places and use the funds for Red Box if we can find one. Then there is always AM radio, I enjoy the noon time hog and cattle reports and Tradeo.

I have never gotten less than 20 channels even in a bad reception area with just the batwing antenna that comes standard on RV's. Certainly no need to pay a service for TV reception in your RV! :C

Some TV's you might need to rescan channels each time you move the antenna a substantial amount.

I've travelled from coast to coast and the worst TV reception I got was in WI where the campground was in a bowl and transmitters were 60+ miles away. Other than that, no problems.
