Verizon claims
I know of four COE campgrounds within 50 miles of DFW airport where Verizon doesn't have a strong enough signal to pull up the WFAA app weather radar, much less stream video.
Claims and reality are two different things when it comes to cell phones. Cell phone company claims about service are less accurate than RV salesmen in my experience. - Sam_SpadeExplorer

Here is a bold prediction. In 5 years satellite tv will be dead. As 5 G cell service gets implemented, and unlimited data becomes common place, tv programs and movies will be streamed to smart televisions. Cutting the cord or the satellite dish will be prevalent.
Cell phone companies can't seem to provide reliable service just for voice service, in my experience.
I can't see them EVER completely taking over from cable/sat services.
I don't think they own enough bandwidth or have the guts to make the necessary investment to get really good coverage. - ncrowleyExplorer III have an X2 external automatic satellite antenna with Dish programming. It works very well and since it is external, I can get 100 feet away from the RV, and I have had to do that in one RV park. I also purchased an app for my phone called "DishPointer Pro" that shows you the location of the satellites through your camera so you can find where to put the antenna. That app is really amazing and has been really useful.
- hpdrverExplorerVerizon claims they cover most of the country and as more people get their television from the Internet, the number of satellite subscribers will decline and the business will become unprofitable. Sorry to see it go but internet television is the future. Dish and Direct TV are already getting into the Internet game.
- myredracerExplorer II1. Many CGs don't have cable TV. If they do, sometimes the picture quality is so low it's hard to watch.
2. Many CGs won't have OTA TV unless you are close to an urban area. In some CGs with OTA, you may have only a few stations and they either keep cutting out or are mostly in another language or are shopping channels. Pffft...
3. Depending on where the CG is and where your particular site is in that CG, you may not get satellite reception due to trees or other obstructions or bad weather. Depending on your dish, setting it up can be a bit of a pain, esp. if you are just over-nighting. We pre-record most of our shows at home, but if you're travelling around, that's not going to work.
If you absolutely can't survive not keeping up to date with Survivor, AGT, DWTS, The Bachelor and a few other shows, arm yourself with all three methods. ;) There's always a DVD but somehow it's just not the same as watching a TV show.
Haven't heard about 5G yet, but if it's anything like our 4G Verizon, there are some locations where there isn't coverage or sometimes the signal drops out. Hmm, that's gonna mean arming yourself with 4 methods? - Happy_ProspectoExplorerI use Winegard Trav'ler with Direct TV, works fist time everytime.
- PawPaw_n_GramExplorerWon't happen west of Weatherford. Too many areas of Texas with no cell service, and no cell companies willing to add towers which will have only a dozen or so regular customers. The costs of providing cell service to about 35-40% of the nation will never justify nationwide cell service.

- WeBeFulltimersExplorerDish Network with a 1000.2 dish mounted on a surveyor's tripod. Hopper 3 receiver that will record up to 16 programs at one time. Works great and not hard to find the birds when we move. We are full timers.
- Gonzo42ExplorerI'm now set up for OTA, cable, and Dish. Plus I can play DVD's. DW can't live without TV. This required some work and upgrades but co$t$ were reasonable. Ask if you want details.
