WOW....everyone is so quick to call clerk an idiot.
Sound like clerk was giving some insight that could apply. :S
Seeing as none us know OPs sewer drain line set up OP might head clerks advise and at least check it the weight of twist on valve does cause problem.
Simple...install it and then using ones hand wiggle the valve up/down--back/forth
I have an extra valve permanently installed on drain line because of the exact reason clerk warned about (except I figured it out on my own).....plus it stuck out/down to far to leave on while traveling.
SO I also questioned why use it if I had to remove hence the permanently installed one on horizontal section before drain pipe turned outward.
