Two 6 volt vs two 12 volt run time

I was just informed that two 6 volt batteries would run the residential refrigerator many times longer than two 12 volt batteries. I wonder if this is just hype?

I have an opinion on this subject and have asked this question before with no answers yet. When a 6 volt battery is bad how will the other 6 volt battery power a 12 volt system? I am happy with our 4 12 volts batteries. Sorry I can't help you.

    X2.
The main advantage is 6V's can cycle more and deeper before weakening.
  • I recommend 4 batteries minimum if you are going off grid with a residential fridge.

For what the dealer is most likely to install take the 6v IMO.

Same capacity will provide about the same run time. You will generally get more charging cycles out of the 6v as they are specifically designed to be deep cycled on a daily basis. Most 12v are not... but some are.

Best to post the actual batteries you are considering and what you expect out of them.

I do not know which batteries. The selling rv dealer offered to swap the 12 volts for 6 volts ...

Assuming batteries of similar capacity, say two 6 volts in series with a total capacity of perhaps 220 AH vs two 110 AH 12 volts in parallel for a total similar capacity of 220 AH does that above statement make any sense? :R
