TX state inspection & being out of state for the next year

There is a new law in Texas, effective March 2015, that will require vehicles to have passed an inspection within 90 days of the registration renewal in order to renew the registration. They are going to change from having two stickers (one for registration and one for inspection) to having just one. There's a thread over on the Escapees forum about it.
