UGH....WINTER

Every day, I look at the TT covered, looking sad and lonely.
Come on Spring!! I can't wait to open up the ole gal, air her out, clean her up and finish a couple of projects started late in the year.
then she'll be hooked up to go to the CG to fill her with the laughing and happiness and yes, the fighting and arguing that goes with taking your twin teens and two granddaughters camping, but that's what this mama bear loves.
So any ideas on speeding up this winter BS?

We enjoy the real world, we just don't wear winter well. Our trailer is sitting in the drive looking very forlorn and unloved too.

    Romore, Come on down!!!!

We see a lot of Canadians from BC on the Oregon Coast in winter! It is only about an eight hour drive down to the Central Oregon Coast.
  • Spending my entire adult life in South Florida, I respect and admire all of you in the frozen north. I honestly do not know how you put up with winter.

My hat is off to you. (Exposing my bald head. LOL)

Spring is on the way. Really.
  • Tell me about it... We usually go to Florida for 2 weeks in February just to break up the cold misery that is a midatlantic winter.

2 years ago we had our first born and didn't want to make the 18 hour drive with a 4 month old eating every 2 hours.

This year we have an almost 1 month old and aren't going to make the trip again. The worst part is that my parents go to Florida the entire month (rent a place, they don't camp anymore). Starting last year my in-laws bought a trailer and go camping... they are headed down to Florida this year.

The only thing worse than not going to Florida in the winter is having your family go and send pictures...
  • As you we were born and raised here in wonderful Michigan. Winters are getting harder to take as our years tic buy. In our late 50's and talk a lot about leaving when retired. I can see that happening, especially now. Hate winter. Don't ski, snowmobile, so not much to do offsetting the doldrums.

We just made our reservations for up north in Traverse city for July. We usually do Frakenmuth in May and another during the summer. Probably do Petosky as well. A couple more scattered in. Then Hawaii in November. This surely helps us get through these dreadful winter days. But there is the trailer show first week in Febuary if your near Novi, MI. Maybe that will help you get through.
  • Kennedy64, why not pull that cover back from the TT, plug it in, fire up the furnace, warm it up, get the television going, pop some pop-corn on the stove and spend a couple nights in it. We do this all the time. Ours is not covered, so it's easy to do.

We have a port-a-potty so we don't have to use the bathroom in the camper or make a treck to the house in the snow. Clean the potty out every morning in the house. Keep tubs in the sink to catch any water and simply toss the water out the door so drains don't get used.

Get some games, crank the radio, or just spend time with your loved ones. Who says you 1) you have to wait till warm weather to use the camper, and 2) who says you have to go to a campground. Sounds like you have your camper right there on your property. Why not use it!
  • Heading out for 5 days starting on the 22nd. First trip of the year and to break in the new fiver. So glad we live in the south and can camp year round. Hate it for those living in the north, been there done that and got out.
    Happy Camping.
  • Not sure if you have any open campgrounds at all up there now. But we will do during the winter is go a little further south to Myrtle Beach (4 hr drive for us) for a long weekend. We won't dewinterize the motorhome. We will leave it winterized. We make sure we park close enough to walk to a bath house and just use the bath house. Don't use the plumbing in the camper. Carry some jugs of water and don't pour down the drain. Pour into a plastic wash basin that we can carry outside and pour down the outside sewer trap. We usually eat out. But if we cook there on site, we normally do something easy that requires no or very little cleanup. Heat up water on stove and wash whatever in the plastic wash basin. Beats having to dewinterize, use the sewer hose and rewinterizing. It's not an every day thing, but is good for a trip every now and then. Matter of fact, we are headed to MB in 2 weeks for a 4 day trip. Daughter is out of school for a couple days right after a weekend. Wife and I took a couple days of PTO.

DW has been out of town and I had Cabin Fever BAD. So I grabbed a sleeping bag and a pair of long johns, turned on the LP and went into the TT for the night.
