Asking this, becuase I do not know. But in the OP's post. He said the dealer wanted the money down, before they would look at his offer. And deceide if they would take the offer?
I understand that with buying a house (earnst money). But with a used MH ?
Is that common practice? Again I do not know, but sounds a little shady to me
Common practice for a deposit to be made before the dealer will sign a contract. Prevents tire kickers from wasting dealer's time.
It may be a common practice but I have never had an RV dealer or car dealer refuse my offer because I wouldn't put up earnest money. I just tell them that I am here, in person and not wasting their time so don't waste MINE. It always works.
