There is nothing specific about the starting procedure except for in cold weather. However, since we are in the middle of Summer, it's a moot point.
However, I did find this section interesting: "Idling in cold weather does not heat the engine to its normal operating temperature. Long periods of idling, especially in cold weather, can cause a buildup of deposits which can cause engine damage."
My manual says basically the same thing. GMC Duramax. So guess what? I idle! Even at fuel stops, I'll let er rest for awhile before I start pumping fuel.
