With all of the diesel powered construction & farm equipment how many of them are allowed to sit at idle waiting to warm up? None of them. They start up, check guages for pressures, maybe wait a minute, & off they go.
Same with diesel boats. You start up, cast off lines, idle out of the restricted speed area then run the engines up.
This idling business is nonsense. Diesel fuel must not be expensive enough for them.
We start up, get hitched up, shut down, finish the ready for road routine, (legs up, slides in, chocks, checks for anything missed), then start a second time & off we go. If the highway is real close & temp is not up we might take a mile to get up to speed without aggressive acceleration on a coolish engine.
It does seem to be a "Listen to me. I have a DP or a noisy old Ford or Cummins thing". I am not impressed. I am annoyed. My Isusu powered GM is almost as quiet as a gasser.
