I will Idle my Diesel for 20-30 min. If the people in the CG don't like it then they can just right me a check for a new turbo. I don't start heading down the road until I have at least 150 deg on my water temp. On that note I usually do not start my rig until around 9am. You never wind up your turbo cold or shut it down hot.
^^^^^^ this is correct. States it in the manual. It says to drive at low rpm until this is reached. Diesels don't warm up easily. Surely you wouldn't expect a diesel to make a short drive onto the highway were speeds are 55 mph holding up traffic going under the speed limit to keep the RPM's down until temp is reached. That would go over well.
For me, it's wait until the needle starts to move before I put it in gear. If temps require it the block heater will be ran the night before. There are plenty of noises at night and very early in the morning from all the other campers I accept as part of the experience. If I run my engine for 5 - 10 minutes I don't feel any less inconsiderate then anyone else. Besides in the real picture I've made a lot less noise in general getting ready to leave then someone with a travel trailer or fiver from a time stand point.
We don't hear complaints about all the racket the guy with the fiver and diesel PU truck made during their departure.
5-10 minutes is much different than 30 minutes
