Upgrade Awning

I have a 2006 Holiday Savoy SL. Both arms of the awning do not work properly, the awning material is torn and it is time to replace the entire awning. This is a Carefree awning. Any suggestions? Will it be better to replace with the new type scissor awning? I am thinking about including some time of protective cover for the awning material to roll up in so water will not get to the material.

Any advice and suggestions are appreciated.

    I replaced mine with another Carefree. The first one lasted 20 years and yes it became more difficult to deploy and roll up due to stress from wind and old age. The final straw was the material gave out during a wind so it was time to replace.

    The new one is two years old and operates great.
