My map has nothing to do with where my RV has been, it is where we have visited or lived in a lifetime. That is what my wife and I agreed on. We might have many different RVs, different modes of travel, just one lifetime.
After she died, I added states I've visited that she had not been to, but not the ones she had visited without me.
For your map, it should be what you can agree on. If you can't agree, then make two maps, yours and hers.
