Our races are held typically in remote places such as farmland or undeveloped property. We race cross-country ATVs (hare scrambles). Whatever you bring is what you have. Water, electricity, whatever.
We usually arrive at our tracks just after noon on Saturday. The Onan is fired up and it runs non-stop until we get ready to pull out late Sunday afternoon.
Other than that, we don't go to campgrounds without power. If I wanted that, I would have just gotten a tent and saved over $50,000.
Ok, I am gonna flip flop for you.
I think what to are doing is fine.
What!?!? The generator hating guy is ok with generators!?!?
Here is why. Your venue is not about peace and quite and nature. It is about racing. It is reasonable to assume that there will be generators running there. Lol, also reasonable to assume a lot of drunk rednecks (not meant disparagingly as I too can be a drunk redneck at the races) and music....and people just jumping into your truck tailgate for rides to wherever your truck is aimed. ...not sure what I think of that yet.
However, if you are in a location where listening to woodpeckers or crackling campfires is reasonably expected to be the norm, then generators should be off.
