Thank to kaydeejay for that DMV link. The important part I got our of reading that was that even the commercial guys pulling 2 pup trailers can only go on the interstate and certain "designated" highways. It hadn't occurred to me but I don't see the double trailer commercial rigs on any of the secondary roads and all of their terminals are right beside the interstate.
So, even if I went to all the trouble to make my truck and trailers commercial I still couldn't get to the lake.
I got an off forum response telling me I would likely be put out of service and given a reckless driving ticket. That's not what I was hoping for. I could have dealt with a simple $100 fine or something.
I guess my best bet is to get with the local trailer dealers and my VA government representative and see if I can get the law changed. I should have done that when we had a republican governor. I bet it's less likely to happen now.
