Vent fans and a/c at the same time

Sorry, but I don't understand what you are saying or asking!

Anone seen any benefit from running a ceiling vent fan or two, while the ac/is running in an RV? Hot air goes tot the ceiling and cold air from the ac sinks toward the floor.

It would suck cool air out.

I’d just run a small fan pointing up.

agree. cold air falls but that ceiling vent fan would likely grab it before the air would reach the floor. we have two small fans running with the AC...one up front and another in the back.

I understand what he is saying but I think he's overlooking something important

IF you are not "Disturbing" the air (running a fan) hot air has a tendency to hang out near the ceiling while cooler air hugs the floor. His thinking is if we open the roof vent and turn on the fantastic/Maxx air fan it can "Suck out" the hot air.. Leaving only the cooler for the A/C to work with.. And in some cases this is a very good plan.. If, for example it's 80 out and 90 in

But if it's 80 in and 90 out what will be replacing the perhaps 85 Dergree ceiling hot air? 90 degree outside air. So the net gain is -5 in this "out of the blue" example.

So the only time I would consider that is if the outside air was cooler than inside.. THen it might work.. Right now it's 2 degrees warmer out.

Though, I never done it myself.....I’ve heard of people doing that. However, I think that they were only trying to remove the hot layer of air during the initial cool down.....not running all the time! memtb

IF.....both units are cooling full time AND you have good air circulation......then what you see (feel) is what you get.

NO, your ceiling fan proposal won't work except maybe in the first few minutes when you are trying to cool it down starting near 100 F.

You either need more cooling or better air circulation.

Personally I think your situation probably is normal and you just need to resolve your self that it will be a bit warm sometimes.

I frequently open the vent, but not turn on the fan. Lets the hottest air flow out by itself and allows the coldest air to drop to the floor. I "think" it works. Never did any calculations or anything. Makes me happy and that's what it's all about.

The only advantage I've ever found to run the Exhaust fans in the way you are talking about is when we are initially cooling down the inside of the coach and it is cooler outside than it is inside the coach. It is a rare situation because it also has to be hotter outside than what I want the inside of the coach to get down to eventually. for example 92 inside coach, 85 outside and I want the inside of the coach to be 78. run fans for a few minutes, then start up AC's.

For a very few minutes beginning when the A/C is initially started...possibly.
