We have mountain lions in our neighborhood in the Tucson Mountains. WHY would anyone worry about them. They are just passing through. Plus we built on their land. My wife and I had the great fortune of being 75 feet from one a few years back. We also know where a den is and would never think of calling Fish and Game.
Ummmm ok. Pet the pretty kitty.....
Wait til your hiking, never see a cat and then follow your tracks back and see that you were paced by one for a distance and you were just there an hour ago!
You may want to do a little research. Cats don’t generally “pass through “. They’re not nomadic and they don’t migrate. They claim a territory and it’s there’s until a bigger cat or outside pressure moves them on. So only passing through if they got booted form that area or are moving through or to that area to establish there.
You’ll rarely ever see more than one cat at a time, but my buddy just got some cool trail cam pics of 2 at the same time. Likely mating partners.
