Visiting Tucson? Meet one of the locals...

We live in a senior community of 5K homes just 6 miles up the road from Catalina State Park. We are at 3,300' at the foot of and about 5 miles from Mt Lemon {9,200'}.

Here are a couple of shots one of my neighbors took the other day:

Check out the paws and overall musculature of this cat. This is one seriously fit kitty! While Mountain Lions are known to frequent this area it is extremely rare for one to be so bold as to be cruising the neighborhood in broad daylight. If we have them here you better believe they are wandering Catalina State Park.

  • Dang, I wish we would've seen that guy! We were just there last Monday visiting friends. My wife's friend took us to the top of Mt Lemmon, VERY beautiful drive! We hope to spend more time in that area next time we take the RV to that area.

  • your pets are not safe, even if you have them on a leash. be alert when you are outside with them.
  • How far away were you when you took the pictures? In the second one the cat appears to be looking at its lunch, did it see you?
  • Looks very healthy....strange occurrence to let itself be seen in the open in broad daylight.
  • No wonder AZ is an open carry state! Don't leave home without one!

Beautiful cat, tho daytime in a neighborhood is worrisome as you say.
