VW - Can it be towed 4wheel down?

There can be a HUGE difference in models/years/etc. As Harley-Dave stated, knowing the year and model will help someone answer your question more accurately.

Check the owners manual for model in question. Mt or AT as well as driveline Front Wheel Drive 4WD or AWD may make a difference.. An acquaintance of ours purchased a Toureg FWD AT on the assurance of the VW dealer that it could be towed 4 down, but later found out that it could NOT, even with modifications, Lube Pump. They now own a tow dolly as well as a dusty Blue Ox tow bar.
