Of course this app came out right around the time our Harvey's (Food Lion) was bought out by Winn Dixie, so I don't go to Wal Mart nearly as much. Harvey's stunk, Winn Dixie is okay. Since Wal Mart is about 15 miles away and Winn Dixie is 2 miles away, I choose Winn Dixie. I go to Wal Mart maybe once a month to stock up on paper goods and things like that are significantly cheaper at Wal Mart.
I do agree with noplace2, Wal Mart has been raising prices little by little over the last half dozen years or so. However, for the most part their regular prices always beat other stores regular prices. Wal Mart loses out when other stores have sales and that's what makes the App nice.
I do use the App when I go to Wal Mart and I have saved $39 from 8 reciepts since I started using the App in August, after someone else here mentioned it. The App compares the prices of about 50 competitors including places like CVS and Walgreens; places I never shop.
As was mentioned, if you buy a lot of Great Value brand items, you aren't going to get anything back on them. However, if you buy mostly name brand items, you will save if there are a lot of competitors in the area. The first time I used it I got $9.52 back (75 items, $235 receipt). Since then, I get about $3 - $6 back per trip. One trip, I only got back $.36, but I only bought 13 items.
