  • I also am interested to hear about this mattress. We bought a new Beauty Rest a couple years ago and have not been happy with it. At this point we are going to pursue warranty issues. It really burns me that the price of the better brands of mattresses and they don't hold up!

We have had a 2" memory foam on the MH and house bed for many years and have found that once we got used to using it we could not sleep on a bed without it. The main issue with beds for folks of lets say "older years" is we need firm support especially if anyone happens to be heavier rather than smaller but need a soft top for joint comfort.

However I caution about putting a foam topper on a worn out mattress...the lumps and gullies will still remain. And a 24 yr old mattress will be so full of dust mite poop...it will weight 3 times what it did originally and is a health hazzard...it's best to ditch it ASAP.

We are indeed interested in replacing both of our mattresses that will be of better quality and supply the comfort and support we need.
  • We have the 8 inch SS in our Class C for about 2 months now and it is very comfortable. I don't know about durability yet as we haven't had it long. I think we paid about $199 so it was very inexpensive so you can afford to replace it more often if the durability isn't that great.

We also kept the memory foam topper that we had on our previous matress (we probably don't need it).
  • We purchased a 2.5" memory foam topper from Sam's Club for our 5er bed. Wife liked it so much I had to buy another one for our S&B home. About $139.00 for a king size topper. We can now get a full night's sleep on either bed without a backace in the morning.

  • I have a Costco 2" topper on my stock mattress that came with my Lance. It's the lightest, hardest, most uncomfortable mattress I've ever tried to sleep on. Until I put the topper on it. Now DW and I both prefer it over the one in the house.

My suggestion to anyone considering getting a replacement is to try out a 2" topper on your existing or light spring mattress. It sure saves a lot of weight.
  • we bought the 8" SS at Walmart, about 6 months ago
we fulltime been sleeping on everynight, since

except for the 3 weeks waiting on the engine repairs

we are very happy with ours
  • We had the spa sensations in our old TT and LOVED it. We had it for 3 years and it was still in great condition when we sold it. (We were in it 50-70 nights per year.)

When we bought our new 5'er, I ordered one the same day we put money down on it. It came in the day we brought the 5'er home. Lugged that nasty thing our of the bedroom and put our new 8" Spa Sensations in. We have spent 100+ nights in it this calendar year and have a few more scheduled. I figure for the price, I can afford to replace it every 4-5 years. (FYI - it is heavy so make sure you put it ON the bed platform, THEN remove the plastic covering so it can breathe and expand.)

The SS mattress sleeps as well, if not better, than our Tempurpedic we have at home.....at 1/10th the price.
  • The light weight foam will not last. I didn't look at that mattress, but we have just a memory foam topper that we paid $175.00 for about 10 years ago at Sam's Club Queen size and it took 2 of us to lift it out of the package to unfold it and allow it to breathe/accumulate air. It was well worth the money. We just moved the topper into the RV on top of the mattress that came with it and it is very comfortable. Ours is a 3" topper with a removable, washable cover.
  • Have you read the reviews on the walmart site?

It only weighs 34.5 lb. That's about 2.5 lb/cuft. It's pretty light for a 6" 'memory foam mattress'. 5lb/cuft foam is much better.

However, the price is right. Hey, it's Walmart.
  • I can't comment on that band but we had a local small mattress manufacturer make us a new 5" foam mattress to replace the 10" mattress that came with our new trailer. We don't find it bad at all.
