OK so I am going to make a generator slide for my portable. I would like to use Alum for the tray bottom. Is this a bad idea? If not what thickenss to support 100lbs spanning 24"s. Bear in mind most of the load will be close to the slides or on the edges where the rubber feet are. I bought some 500# locking slides off Ebay and will use angle iron to attach the slides and tray.
A piece of 3/16 or 1/4" alum treadplate will work fine for what your wanting to do especially if your weight bearing is going to be near the edges where its supported. The plus for alum is that if you have a gas spill it won't be absorbed into it like it would be with wood.
