An update of my warranty. I received the $8,000.00 credit into my finance company, but still waiting for the reimbursement of the interest and state tax for Colton. Thanks for all your good information.

I retired from one of the largest finance companies in the U.S., and approving Extended Service Plan companies was one of my jobs. My observations:

(1) Extended Service Plans don't begin until the factory warranty period is up. That means you should be able to flat cancel the policy and get a full refund, or have the refund forwarded to your finance company.

(2) ESP companies are not created equal. Unless they're bonded and insured by a high quality insurance company, you shouldn't deal with them. Many ESP companies have gone out of business throughout the years and stiffed their customers for $ millions.

(3) Your dealer has been notified time and time again that the ESP company has never been paid, and that your ESP is invalid. This is a serious violation, and it's like an insurance agent that never paid the insurance company for a policy. This was a criminal act when they failed to pay the ESP company.

(4) Any person that has such issues should carefully document correspondence, even if by email. And you keep track of who you talked to, when you talked to them and what they promised. Demand letters should go out certified directly to the business owner.

It sounds as if you're close to getting the money returned. Unless the funds are refunded by the end of the month, you need to contact an attorney. In my eyes, they owe you $8,000 plus cash equal to 10 months' finance charges (if it's financed). Further correspondence should go directly to Jim Colton, not his cronies.

A simple letter from an attorney should result in your being paid. If you're not paid promptly, go to the local police department and swear out a criminal warrant on Mr. Colton. He'll pay then. Good luck to you.

Nothing wrong with changing your mind but read your contract to see what it says about canceling it and what if any penalties.

Duke 44: Thank you for your reply. I have as been on the road since the post and this is the first chance to get online to check this post. I put this post on the forum to prevent other rv's from making the same mistake that I did. I appreciate all the responses from the people on the forum. I was told by Benoy that this was taking care but the finance company never received payment. I have contacted Colton numerous times, via two letters and calls to different people within the company and they kept referring me back to Benoy. Benoy said they sent check to finance company, but finance company never cashed and they were reissuing the check as of last week. To this date, the money still hasn't gotten to the finance company.

I have been on this forum for a number of years. I agree and am sorry that some on here have been rude; that is not the norm here. However, it would have helped if you had included the info in todays post in your first post or shortly after. I just read this all today and was at a lose as to what the facts were. Todays post cleared that up, slightly. What are the details of what you have done in the last 9 months?
That is a long time for this to continue on.
With all the facts, I am sure that you will be treated very politely. I would suggest that you start a new post with all the facts and a new title. I am sure someone will be able to give you some suggestions that may help get the $8000 in shorter order. Good luck.

For your information, I did not post and forget it. I contacted the warranty company and they never even received the warranty paperwork. It was stopped at the dealership. I am still trying to get them to cut check to finance company.

When the DW bought her new Ford from the local dealer, I almost punched the finance guy as he was really trying to sell her a warranty on her new car and badgered her so bad she almost cried. I finally found the used car mgr who I knew and told him what was happening and he shut him down. I was so P/O that I missed the deal where if she financed the car for 90 days,she'd get another $500 off the price,she was gonna write a check but that extra $500 sounded too good. Five months later she told me that she was going to pay her car off and I asked her what she meant and she told me about the deal. They had charged her 16.99% as she didn't have credit in her name and she had paid them over $3000 extra.... Whoa and I went in with an attorney friend and got ALL of the interest back.
Oh and never had any problems with that 2009 Escort yet.

If this is what or how you feel perhaps a forum of counselors is the place to express your rants, not a public forum where you will get real public opinion and criticism…

We are a community and a source for information and opinion with the intention of trying to offer or find good information from a wide audience of experiences and expertise…
Support is fine but completely unnecessary if truth and reality and living experience is where the answers are found… coddling is not true support of any value and where a forum of consolers would be better suited…

What value is any information from a unquestioned one side source (rant) full of biases, if the biases isn’t ferreted out and reason is discounted just to be supportive…

What you want is as much accurate information as you can find about who you are dealing with… operating with bad information is no better and maybe worse than having none and forming you own opinion in real time…

I think you are saying that it is OK for people to post their negative opinion which is what the OP and several others have done. All opinions and experiences are one sided, forums allow other opinions to be expressed as arguments. That's why there are sites like rvparkreview etc. My original point was to look for the good advice inside of all the posts.

I would like for the OP to come back and address some questions and provide an update too, but not likely to happen now. I understand them wanting out of the $8000 deal, I have felt burned in a deal or two and I didn't like it. Someone might avoid a mistake in the future if they read this thread. Much better prices can probably be found for that service.

I am… a negative opinion can be every bit as valid as a positive one… also your main point is correct…

The problem here are the rants deserve more scrutiny because the party the rant is directed at cannot respond... contracts can not be seen, and by nature the ranter feels slighted or burned and cheated… all too often these opinions expressed are overly biased to a fault to support their facts and may discard or intentionally overlook facts that may harm their stated opinion even if the discarded facts are crucial… seldom is there full disclosure from a initially posted rant, and fluid answers or no answers farther question credibility…

every often a ranters stated opinions would not even be their own opinion if they were not so closely involved or even if they stated their opinion some time farther into the future…

its Just human nature, or the nature of the beast… the best we can do is to carefully read what the rant says try to apply our own knowledge and experiences and try to make some sense out of them… but that usually generates more questions than answers…
those questions should be asked and hopefully be reasonably addressed…

support may be nice but IMHO shouldn’t be automatic…

even in rants of my own I have softened and/or strengthened my opinion based on differing opinions given, even though my own opinions are admittedly not easily swayed, they to should be questioned… and usually are… :B
