2 weeks in a row now after dumping the black, gray and then 2nd gray tank the weekend prior when we show up at the next campground a week later and I open the lid to the dump I am getting black tank you know what that pours out. It is not 2 gallons which is what I add to the black tank after dumping but enough that it is disgusting. Any idea why residual stuff is coming out 1 week later. Yes, all levers are closed after last trip tks.

I always get a little liquid out when dumping. It could just be water left int he pipe from the dump that finally works its way down to the low point. Otherwise you could have some debris in the valve from the black tank. I have one of these attached to the dump connection. Dump Valve

Sounds as though you are dumping & not getting everything out. Try flushing the tank afterwards with a wand & repeat if needed, & yes the valve is not sealing properly.

I would guess leaking valve, or valve just not closing completely. Mine typically does not have any water at all behind the cap, and never more than a few drops which is probably what had not completely drained down before I put the cap on.

Your valve is just a slot with rubber on both sides. Toilet paper and other debris gets caught in the slot when you push the valve closed. The valves are cheap ($13.00) and are easily replaced on most units. Either change the valve out or take a few minutes and clean the slot/groove out with a tool or coat hangar. Also, spraying a little WD40 on the handle shaft helps it move more freely and generally allows you to get the valve closed tighter.

There's really only two things you can do.
Rebuild or replace the existing valve.
Add a twist on valve.

You could get a sewer cap with a hose connection on the edge. That would let you drain the leakage into your sewer hose with the small cap before taking the large cap loose. I can't take credit for the idea and don't remember where I saw it, but it makes sense as a work-around for leaky valves.

Mine did that. I bought a replacement valve, and replaced the whole valve assembly. The new one did it too. I just live with it.

Think it has to be a valve that is not closing completely because it's too stiff or something like toilet paper or kitchen plastic is jammed in the valve. Get a clear plastic adapter to go on your dump outlet so you can see if there's anything there before removing the cap so you can get a bucket in place before having a spill.

Had a similar situation. Wearing good rubber gloves, I took valve of and cleaned around where the valve seats. Not fun but not leaking anymore.

Gate valve is leaking. Before you replace see if there is something causing the valve to not seal completely. While it is true the drainage is also due to not gettin the whole system totally emptied you don't want to be that guy at the dump station who makes us all wait while he gets that last drip. I know you're not.

Thanks all. Will get that twist on valve. Never had this issue in over 2 years with this camper and we camp a lot.
