We volunteered at a national park and one of our 'duties' was to dig out the rocks and soil two feet deep around the spigots that had a sign on them 'no dishwashing, hair washing, bathing or teeth brushing'. Of course, the signs were not meant for THEM. After digging we re-filled with fresh dirt and a thick layer of rock. Not a fun job.
The reason for us doing this disgusting job was not only because of health hazards but because the water wasn't draining and big muddy puddles were being left.
While digging we found gobs of decaying garbage and meat bones, hair, fish bones and toothpaste.
At another volunteer gig we discovered a man naked sitting inside one of the sinks outside the restroom which had a sign 'for dish washing only'. He was taking his bath. He got kicked out of the park. So when using those sinks for dish washing, take your bleach with you. You never know......
