Water filling at dump station

I was waiting my turn in the dump line at South LaPosa (Quartzsite) when I saw a lady holding the dump water rinse hose to her beat up RV. I walked up and asked "How long are you going to be.. are you rinsing?" She said "No, I'm filling my fresh water."

Gulp. Someone actually stupid enough to be filling her fresh water with the dump rinse hose. I sternly replied "This is not fill water.. the fill water is over there" - pointing to the many open water spigots. She got nasty and said something like "thanks for the advice." Meanwhile there's now 4 rigs waiting in line.

The 'ranger' (the dump cop) was there so I told him. He spoke to her and she promptly packed up and left.

I've seen lots of things in my camping career, but filling your fresh water from the dump water is a first.
  • I've seen it done may times and most of the time there is a sign saying the water is nonpotable water. go figure, guess they enjoy stomach aches and diarrhea

I guess we can shake our collective heads, or wag our fingers at this person for filling from the wrong hose.

Somehow I've survived for decades despite drinking from lakes, rivers, green garden hoses, eating food after it's fallen on the ground, sitting on public toilet seats and even drinking from open air public fountains.

I'm just not that frightened by cooties I guess.
And the old outhouses with wooden seats and of course no hand sanitizer (which was unheard of back then).

I see we grew up in the same era. ;)

And to think we're still alive and still have a good memory! :B

Just to be clear to the rest of you people, no, we don't use the rinse hose at the dump station to fill our fresh water tank.
