water filters

we just use the under-sink in-line filter and the fridge has it's own filter. and if either hadn't come with the MH I doubt we'd use anything. we went without for the first 15-years and we're still here. but as long as they're there we use 'em and change the cartridges once a year.

We have used the blue in line filters as well. When we had the motorhome we had the one under the counter as well. When we slold the motor home and went back to a fiver I purchased the on the go water softner. The difference in water quality with the softner vs the blue in line is like comparing a dually to a srw.

This is what we use and haven't had a problem. Simple and easy to use.

I do the same BUT I get mine from Amazon,2 for the same price as Walmart,I don't need that hose thing I use a quick disconnect on each end and attach it in line.

The blue inline filters are fine for filtering out sediment, just as well as the whole house kind.

We use the Hydro-Life HL-180 available from CW and other sources. All the water to the camper goes thru this filter. We use bottled water for coffee, drinking and cooking.

I bought one of these, added hose ends & ball valves to close it off completely & then used 10, 5 & .1 micron filters. It's pretty heavy when it's full but it certainly filters everything well. I've been told a .5 micron filter should take care of most bacteria,

I sanitize my system at the start of every trip. Secondly I try to be careful about the source of water. I use municipal or other treated and tested sources. Of course, I mostly assume proper treatment and testing. When in doubt, I sometimes ask. Finally for drinking, I use water filtered through a Britta or similar water jug. In 7 years, I have never had any issues nor have I ever seen an accumulation of sediment or scale.

If you're just a Weekend Warrior camping at the same camping spots every year, then one of those blue Camco filters is probably ok.

However, if you're doing a lot of camping and at unfamiliar sites, then I'd suggest a multi-stage filter like PDX1953 recommended, especially one with clear filter housings:

I full time and have a more involved water filtration system.
