- fla-gypsyExplorerEgad! I've been drinking well water from a garden hose for 50 years. I must be dead. ~ Buy a white hose and save yourself.
- RoyBExplorer IIAs a general rule we don't use any of the hoses or fresh water tanks for our drinking water or for cooking. We are long time fresh ground COFFEE BEAN drinkers and to get the exact same bean coffee taste we enjoy all over the country requires us to use the same brand of bottled water.
We always have two or three gallons of bottled water along with us on our trips...
Roy Ken - coolmom42Explorer IIOrdinary garden hoses contain plasticizers and additives that are not approved by the FDA for direct food/water contact. The (usually) white hoses sold for drinking water connections do not contain these ingredients.
Will you get sick/die from drinking out of a garden hose, or using one to fill your FW tank? Obviously not. But I would not routinely drink water that had been sitting in one for hours, as is the case when you are hooked up to city water in a RV. - navegatorExplorerThe white hoses are sold at Walmart, the regular garden hose can be used, some times they have a taste when they have been out in the sun, otherwise it is entirely up to you, what ever is comfortable for you and your family, unless the CG has a policy that only white hoses are to be used never encountered that yet, you never know.
navegator - beemerphile1ExplorerUse the white or blue hoses that are approved for potable water use.

does any one out there use any special hoses other than normal garden hoes?
I fill the tank using a normal garden hose at home. I carry one of those expensive white hoses in case I end up at a full hookup CG.
Been drinking from a regular hose on and off for decades, haven't died yet.
Difference is the water does not sit in the garden hose for a prolonged period when you are filling tank and Usually when you drink from a garden hose you let it run a bit before drinking. The garden hose will leech a lot of junk into water if it sits a while - Alabama_JimExplorerThe white drinking hose recommended by RV manufactures.
