We have some good news, sort of. UPDATE

Previous post

She has been accepted for 2 trials at Penn med. Yay!

I need to find an RV Park/ Mobile Home park that I can put my '05 ALFA in so she and her husband can live in while the trials are done.

Hopefully, this will be less expensive than a Hotel/Motel.

Location: Penn Med, Philadelphia, PA. (We'll become Steelers/Phillies fans if this helps :) )

Looking for full hook ups as I'll be setting it up and letting my F-I-L use it. Kinda needs to be " fool proof". He has a sailboat but has zero experience with an RV.

Any help with locations/Phone numbers/websites is appreciated.

Everyone who has responded with prayers/wishes has helped.

She would be flying in from Reno and I'll be driving the Fifth wheel later.

Thanks again for all help.

  • Ask to speak to the oncology social worker. Penn has a hotel affiliated with the hospital, as well as other options. there are no RV hookups at the hospital, and no truly close parks. When i was commuting there for work, I found my best option was the Super 8 motel in Mt. Laurel NJ. They gave me a discount for a long stay, rooms were nice, and secure. Philly is not a great place for a novice RVer to deal with norhteast winters
  • RVing in extreme cold climates can be a challenge even for someone very experienced with a RV. I don't think this is such a great plan for someone recovering from medical procedures and their spouse who has never RVed before. I think you would be better served having the hospital refer you to an extended stay facility.
  • Another suggestion for Timberlane, I am there now. It is in Clarksboro, NJ - right off I 295 - an easy 20 min drive into Philly (non rush hr). It is open year round with full hookups - wishing the best medical outcome possible - God bless
  • I believeTimberlane Campground on the New Jersey side of the River is likely the closest to the Pen Med facilities if the hospital is where I think it is. There are not a lot of RV parks/campgrounds very close to Philadelphia and even fewer open all year. I don't know about Mobile Home Parks that allow RV's, but would think they also are more likely to be in New Jersey.

Can they deal with the cold weather in a RV park? I don't know if they have the weekly-monthly chain motels there but it might be as cheep and less to deal with.
    Extended Stay
  • check with the med facilities they may have RV parking with hook ups. I know of some hospitals that do out west. just thinking they might have them back east also. Prayers going out for you and your family. times like this you need all you can get.
