Weather -How to know if tornados are predicted?

We will soon be driving across that part of the US that's known as tornado alley. The recent tornadoes there make me wonder how I, as someone unfamiliar with the area, could know about a possible torn...

The other issue is to know what county you are in. If the weather radio states that Wilson county has a storm warning it would be nice to know if one is in that county.
Some campgrounds are showing that information on their handout but not all do. On the road, it is more difficult unless one has an atlas.
