And the Red Cross has an app called Tornado. The nice feature about using a cell phone over a weather alert radio is that the phone knows exactly where you are while the radio doesn't and requires that you tune it to the proper alert frequency for the area you are in which may not be easy if your travelling. I have both and find the smart phone to be much better but it does require coverage.
