- VeebyesExplorer IIA weather glitch has been thrown into the weekend already. There will not be a single RV in sight for the next 6 weeks however there will be some extremely fast sailboats & many very very expensive large motor yachts to be seen.
The America's Cup was supposed to start today however we have a high wind & thunderstorm warning so all is postponed till tomorrow when the weather should be much better.
Actually I am very happy to be onshore today after 6 hours of being bounced around in a small boat yesterday during a rehearsal of sorts setting up course marks & those magical things that 'paint' lines on the water to make it all understandable on your TV. - pnicholsExplorer II

I identify with you on that one .... except where we live is 1800 feet up in the North-Central CA mountains, and also close to ocean beaches if we want to go see the sea. Some folks drive their RV's many miles to get to camping spots like where our stick and bricks house already is ... so we rarely go anywhere with our RV over any Holidays so as to avoid crowds.
However almost any situation can be relative, so we keep an RV in order to travel, camp, and take a break from the constant trees and green mountain vistas we live daily around. We enjoy camping in desert areas to see the uncluttered, broad, sweeping, and treeless views ... and for the DW to collect rocks that I have to then figure out how to lift up into the RV's storage cabinet. ;) - frankdampExplorerWe're due for the best Memorial Day weather in over 20 years. 79F today, 80 tomorrow and maybe 83 Sunday and Monday. Living across the street from a salt-water marina, and half a mile from the terminal for the San Juan Islands and Vancouver Island WA State ferries, we don't join the vehicular rush to get away. Staying close to home or going on the ferries as walk-ons are just fine.
Maybe living in Anacortes is why we gave up the RV? - buckyExplorer IIMemorial Day weekend is the absolute worst for stupid human tricks. We gave it up years ago. We drink in moderation but a lot of people only go once a year and it's Memorial Day. Kind of like what happens in "blank" stays in "blank".
- CroweExplorerWhere exactly does the shirt condone drunkenness?
I always thought we had voted on hating the noisy, obnoxious, drunk campers. When did we amend the motion to make it so restrictive?
OMG-LOL!!!! You guys need to get over yourselves! The irony is truly lost on you, isn't it?
Thank you pnichols. Common sense isn't dead! - pnicholsExplorer II"DRINKING MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES" on that sweatshirt sure implies either:
1) A lot of people drinking a little, each.
OR
2) A few people drinking a lot, each ... and drinking a lot sometimes leads to "drunkenness".
Take your pick of what the sweatshirt message implies. I'll go with 2) as a somewhat common outcome.
We try not to camp with either 1) or 2) happening close by. - DryCreekExplorer

Right on!
Some of us like to commune with nature when we're camping - not work ourselves into a state of being oblivious to it. (Oooops - when drycamping out in the middle of the quiet nowhere we do charge our batteries with a generator instead of solar.)
We've never identified with that sweatshirt's kind of thinking. However, we realize that we're in the extreme minority and as a result we don't camp around Memorial Day in campgrounds. - CroweExplorerKind of ironic that this sweatshirt everybody seems to love condones the one thing most of us seem to hate-drunk campers! :B
