No need to stop in the US, unless the sign specifies pickups. I have seen a sign in Iowa that stated "All Trucks, Buses, and Pickups Must Weigh", but that is the only one I've ever seen. The trucks referred to on the signage are commercial trucks. I have no idea about Canada.
